The first day in New Zealand provides no match for team USA. The USA team was matched against Mongolia but won by walkover. Tomorrow should prove more difficult when faced with last years champions, Korea.

The dates have been set for the 2007 USBDF Winter Junior International. The tournament is to take place December 7-9, 2007. Entries are due no later than November 8, 2007. This tournament will take place at the Orange County Badminton Club. For more information or for the entry form please download the attachment.

Due to a low number of applicants
the deadline for High School
All-Americans is being extended.
Applications for USA Badminton's High School All-Americans are now being accepted. All high school juniors and seniors during the 2006-2007 school year are eligible. Recipients will be chosen based on Junior National titles held, badminton and academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, and a coach's recommendation. The time period under consideration is from August 2006 through completion of the 2007 Junior National Badminton Tournament.
Interested students please apply by mail to the National Office, USA Badminton, One Olympic Plaza, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 or by email to peggy@usabadminton.org. Please note that all completed applications must be received by the USA Badminton National Office no later than October 15, 2007 (an extension from the original deadline of August 15, 2007). All applications will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the USA Badminton Junior Committee. Certificates will then be awarded to the winners to be included their college applications.

To the U.S. Junior Team
for brining home the gold!!
After 10 countries battled for two days, the Pan Am Junior Team competition came to an end with U.S.A. bringing home the gold. First U.S.A. played Jamaica winning 4-1. Next they took on Guatemala and didn't lose a match (5-0). Their last match was against Brazil, they won 4-1.
Day two of team competition was more difficult. U.S.A. beat Mexico 3-2, then they went on to play Canada in the semi finals winning 3-1 (knock out round). In the finals U.S.A played Peru and won 3-1.
