1) Rankings Seedings

• To continue using Adult rankings for 1 year -  Vote – yes
• Head to head – D – Change to one with loser dropping or most recent match or what if 3 meetings? V – no change for 2008.

2) Draws

• Distribute entrants by club, not just region – Vote  – yes
• Post seedings 1 week before tournament and draw 3 to 4 days ahead – Vote yes.
• Results – software use required/optional – Vote –e-posting required

3) Criteria for Junior International Team Coaches

• D – unclear who selects CED/RCD/Juniors Committee, OPD, Squad Coaches
• Important – Age, travel availability, safety, code of Ethics, level III (when we have it), Develop list of Eligibles, Must coach all kids, conflicts of interest, who pays?

4) Play in Junior Nationals

• D – No exceptions for school, medical, family, other tournaments. You play as scheduled or don’t play.
• D – Requisite time between matches (15 minutes or international BWF 30 min)

5) Junior National Tournament size

• D – U22 – pro – keeps kids playing, connected to USAB, not all kids eligible for Collegiate Nationals
• D – U-7, U-9, U-11. Are they appropriate and necessary?
• D – Should we split into 2 tournaments, U-17, 19, 22/U-9, 11, 13, 15.
• D – If tournament grows to greater than 300, do we need qualifiers? ?All regions/? Just the same region as the site of the tournament. Problem – quality vs. Regional distribution/development.

6) Junior National Time Frame

• D – Entry deadline 6 weeks early – late entry policy – none accepted unless a reason approved by Junior’s Committee Chair.
• If 200 players – 10 courts, 5 days,
• If 250 plus players – 14 courts, 5 days
• If 250 plus players – 10 courts, 6 days

7) Junior National Partners

• D - Need policy for partner requests (future-website sign up?). Current policy is a hybrid of ability, time of entry, “out of hat” selection.
• D – 4th mixed doubles. No other 4th event. Only if need for 4th event partners. You cannot sign up for 4 events, only may express willingness to play 4th if needed.
• D – If you lose a doubles partner (illness, injury) how late can you add a 2nd singles event. Current only up till draw or if there is an opening in a draw and your ranking doesn’t require a redraw.

8) Challenges to seedings/draws

• Coaches meeting – Draws/seedings may only be challenged based on posted Ranking/Seeding rules, presentation of Head-to-heads not known to seeding committee, or Draws which are in error by USAB rules.

9) Junior International Events

• V – Require “intent to go” signatures from player and parent to register. To play if you do not plan to go, unfairly affects other players.
• D – Team leader, team coach
• D – JITT structure- whether to co-host with a Juniors Tournament, Location must be different city than Junior Nationals, Should we move to a bid process?

10) Squads

• Has the concept died with Mohan’s departure? No national coach, no funding for camps, etc.
• D – Squads are an essential, long term to raise level for elite play.

11) Junior Tournaments

• (Circuit, Regional Championships, Team Tournaments)
• 12) Health
• WADA/USADA
• Safety goggles
